In 1986, Dolly was very sick. She heard a voice speaking to her heart: “Nothing else can help you but Me.” She didn’t know the Lord yet but He was speaking to her. Her family had a neighbor who kept coming and sharing with them. First her father got saved, then her mother, then she got saved. Afterward she got involved in a local church and has continued in the faith since that time. Her faith helps her and her family a lot through hardships. Her husband is not saved and he is a drunkard. When he fights, she can now keep quiet because of the strength that God gives her. She has a 15 year old son who is often in and out of the hospital with breathing problems and when he is sick she clings to God and trusts Him.
Dolly wants to join the WIDL Program so that she can know the Bible well to teach others, so that God can touch their hearts like He did to her.

When Florence was young she was tormented by demons. She would run around the village, act crazy, and no one knew what to do with her. Her parents wanted her to be a witchdoctor, but she had an uncle who was saved and who discouraged the parents from this. When she got married she was attacked by sickness. She came in the camp where we used to do weekly studies in 2009 and the Lord delivered her. She has been a strong believer since that time. Her husband sent her back to her parents because he wasn’t able to pay her dowry off, and she has stayed without him with her parents and children for several years now. She has five children, the youngest is 4 years old and the oldest is 17.
Florence wants to join the WIDL Program because she has a passion for the Word of God. She desires to share it with her friends but she lacks the knowledge and ability to do so.

In 2008 Hellen’s second born child would cry nonstop at night, like he was tormented. She went to a local pastor to pray for her baby. The pastor told her that she needed to believe in Jesus. She received Jesus into her life that day. Also after that the baby’s condition improved. She has been walking with the Lord ever since. She faces a lot of trials in her house. She has a husband who is a drunkard and who gets very violent with her. He also spends his nights out with other women many times. They have six children, four of them are the man’s from a previous marriage and two are Hellen’s biological children.
Hellen wants to join the WIDL Program because she can’t read well in Acholi, and the little she does read she doesn’t understand. She wants a deeper understanding of the Word of God so that she can know more and share with her friends.
Katherine was raised in a Christian home, but she wasn’t saved. She married a man and had two children. The man later married many other women and didn’t take care of Katherine and her sons, so she came back home and left him. She married another man in 1990. Later her first husband died from HIV complications. Last February she was in the church and realized her need for Christ, and she got saved that day. Three months later, her son’s wife was brought home. She was possessed by demons, she would fall down and start yelling out offensive words and acting “crazy.” They brought her to church for prayer, and she was delivered. Since that time Katherine’s faith grew more and she has been growing in Christ.
Katherine wants to join the WIDL Program because she wants to be strong in her faith so that she can minister to and grow her family in a godly way.
Rose used to be demon possessed. She would run around in the “bush”, up the mountains. The demons would tell her they want her to worship them and become a witchdoctor and make sacrifices and other things. Her brother also agreed that she should be a witchdoctor. She stayed with him and her mother at the time. An evangelist heard about her and how she was tormented. He came to their home to share with her and the family. He told her- there is someone who can heal all of your sickness, that person is Jesus. He prayed for her and advised her that when the demons try to torment her she needed to pray. She came to the church and surrendered her life to Christ. They burned all of the things she used in her satanic worship in devotion to the demons, and she was delivered and set free. She learned how to pray, and how to obey God. She has a husband who is a backslidden Christian. Because she is not able to have children, he took another wife. She still stays there with them, but she knows that her real Husband is God. She keeps her brother’s two children at her home to help them because their mother died.

Sharon has been saved for about 3 years. She wasn’t a good person before, she would covet things and steal what she wanted. Her aunt was one of the ladies coming to the weekly Bible study in the village. She encouraged her to come to Bible study, and she did. When she heard the Word of God she realized it was the opposite of how she was living, she realized she was a sinner. At the end of Bible study she asked to be saved, came forward and prayed to receive Jesus as her Savior to forgive her sins. She has been walking in the Lord ever since. She got pregnant with her first child when she was only 14 years old. She stayed with the father of that child, and had another one. He took another wife and wasn’t taking care of her and the children, so her family came and brought her back home. She later got married to another man. Her second husband died this January in an accident. She is pregnant with their child.
Sharon want to join the WIDL Program because she has a strong desire to understand the Word of God, but she can’t even read it for herself.

Susan went to school up to fifth grade. When she was in the fifth grade she was abducted by the LRA. She spent two years in the bush before she escaped. Later, Susan and her husband had two children. In 2009, her young baby of 2 months old died. Only two weeks later her other child who was 2 years old also died. Some Christians within the village advised her that she could find comfort in Christ and that she needed to get saved. When our team of missionaries was going to her village sharing the Gospel she gave her life to the Lord. Susan’s husband did not get saved until just recently when he came to the weekly Bible study, but now he is excited about his new faith and growing.
Susan loves the Lord and she wants to join the WIDL Program because she is interested in sharing the Word of God with others in her village and beyond.
